Dive into new fiber adventures! Try the newest techniques for coloring, embellishing, and manipulating fabric. We'll make 8' x 10' samples or "pages" that you can keep as reference or use for a soft book, quilt, framed piece, or other projects. See my book The Complete Photo Guide to Textile Art. Stamp Making for Use with Paint

Learn lots of easy ways to make your own one-of-a-kind stamps. You will be able to create original fabrics to carry out a theme or perfectly fit a color scheme. Access to water required. Beginner level, 3 hours

Art Quilting 101

Go from sources of inspiration to fabric studies to methods of working to finished art quilt. Make a small wall piece using a variety of technipues which will be demonstrated and implemented in class. Fuse or stitch elements together and quilt the layers if time allows, after a discussion of different approaches. See my book The Complete Photo Guide to Art Quilting. Make your own gorgeous fabric with paintsticks using several different techniques, including stenciling and rubbing. Beginner level, 3 hours

Image Transfer

Hi-tech and low-tech methods of transferring images to fabric, including prepared inkjet fabrics, photo transfer paper, and transparency transfer using acrylic medum. Beginner level, 3 hours

Altering Lutradur and Fusible Web

Paint, melt, and fuse interfacing, Wonder Under, and Misty Fuse for vessels, books, quilt applications, and fun! Many samples shown. Beginner level, 3 hours

 

Out-of-town Teaching Fee: $550 per six-hour day plus expenses, hotel lodging only

Lectures are only given in conjunction with teaching. Lecture fee: $200

Kits can be requested for a fee ($25 per student per day) which is highly recommended because we move fast and everything is prepared ahead of time, or a supply list will be provided
